William "Billy" Gavula

William A. Gavula, known to family and friends as Billy. Peacefully passed away on May 4, 2022 at the Thomas Jefferson Hospital with his family by his bedside. Born on July 20, 1960 in Camden, New Jersey to the late Joseph and Margaret (nee: Lang) Palma and was raised in South Philadelphia. Billy was a simple man who loved to meet and talk with people. He enjoyed watching sports and loved the Philadelphia Eagles. Another past time was riding his bike around the city and listening to rock music. Beloved brother of Margaret (Mark) Gavula, Ann Marie (Joe) Gavula, Susan (Ralph) DiPietro, Christine (Stuart) Kauffman, Joyce (William) Shields and Joseph (Christina) Palma. Loving father of Eric Strouse, Sophia Gray and Brandon (Samantha) Gavula. He will also be sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and by many good friends. Relatives and friends are invited to gather Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 9-10am at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 9th & Watkins Sts. Funeral Mass 10am. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in his memory can be made to St. Anthony of Padua School Scholarship Program, 913 Pierce St. Phila., PA 19148.
