Thomas J Balilonis, lovingly known as Pop and Mr. Bal to family and friends, peacefully passed away December 11, 2024, on his 90th birthday surrounded by his loving family. Pop was born on December 11, 1934, to the late Justin "Yassi" and Marie (nee: Pollick) Balilonis he has been a lifelong resident of South Philadelphia. He was a proud United States Army Veteran who served in Germany. He retired from the Navy Yard in 1989 where he worked as a controller. Pop was active and loved life, at the age of 80 he was still skiing, golfing, biking, and socializing with his lifelong friends. He enjoyed taking family trips to the beach where lots of memories were made with his family and friends. Family meant the world to Pop, and he was proud of all of them. When walking into his house he always greeted you with the same saying no matter what time of day" What can I get ya a beer, shot, glass of wine then ends it with a soda or bottle of water". Pop was loved by so many and everyone who met him would say what a great man he was. Pop was one of a kind. Pop had hands of gold and could fix just about anything.
