Stacey C Winstead

–

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Very quietly and peacefully on Tuesday , February 2, 2021, The Almighty God in his infinite wisdom gently closed the eyes of our beloved STACEY C. WINSTEAD and guided her to an eternal rest. On September 23, 1960 , in Philadelphia Pennsylvania , STACEY C. WINSTEAD was the youngest of two daughters born to the late Jesse M. Winstead and Audrey Winstead. The Philadelphia School District provided Stacey with a foundation and astute regard for education that was pivotal for developing her legacy to develop and implement college-level programs in the Pennsylvania Higher Education system. Stacey acquired both Bachelor and Master degrees at Slippery Rock University , Slippery Rock Pennsylvania. Stacey acted as an Act 101 counselor at Cheyney University and acquired tenure at Indiana University of Pennsylvania as the Assistant Director of the Learning Enhancement Center/Act 101 Program. Stacey co-authored two college-level publications for freshman college students: College Success: A Focus First Year (2000) and Managing Your Time: An Academic Year Planner (2000). As an advocate for others , both professionally and personally, Stacey tirelessly committed herself to relationships that enabled others access to acquire tools and resources for upward bound realities in their life. It was reciprocal that Stacey and several IUP students nourished their relationships so that she was invited into their post college lives as "family" to continue her presence.Stacey conducted a great value of research and information for the greater good for anything you do in life. Stacey embraced problem - solving matters with " a fighter" disposition and genuine determination. Stacey articulated stellar high standards and ethics that resonated in her character , job ethic and personal life that allowed her to advocate for self management of her medical diagnosis. Staceys health prompted an early retirement with the diagnosis of sarcoidosis. Stacey fostered her faith for solace , comfort and guidance keeping a daily scripture log to read and catalog healthy biblical scriptures. Once a lively person full of energy, Staceys medical diagnosis methodically weighed heavy on her on all levels. In faith, Stacey developed strength and resilience for healing that exceeded medicine. Stacey believed in Gods word and will to heal. New Testament biblical scriptures comforted and guided her. Proverbs 4: 22 "For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh(KJV)."Stacey accepted her faith to shape her heart("my fears will be cradled and I will seek calm in my faith), focus of her eyes( the psychology of state of mind amidst health challenges ) and direction of her feet ( the actions I will take to help myself). Stacey had determination that the disease of illness and its medical impact would not consume her in whole. Stacey, small in stature and soft spoken, had a "beautiful mind." A "beautiful mind" is one that fully exercises critical thinking. There was nothing basic about Stacey. In life, Stacey digested and applied intellectual values that transcended a disciplined process to interpret her observations, experience, logic and communication in all areas. That is, Stacey approached people, places and things as having potential and mindful of the possibilities that were reflected in her wealth of interests and resources. Its how Stacey took careful notation to listen and to interact with family , students and friends. Staceys attention to engaging and purposeful relationships enabled people to feel cared for, as important and special , feel empowered and supported. Simple things became important and sources of good times in her company. Stacey loved her family, students and friends displaying it in many ways with mindful intent and wisdom. Stacey was skillful at embedding a life lesson to share with others for cooking , decorating and design. She appreciated many forms of music and the arts that included an appreciation for foreign cinema and the reality show venue. Stacey loved a good laugh displaying a laugh that was funnier than the topic you may have shared as one. A good meal, a great deal and being a "gadget girl" made her happy. Stacey was one to bear gifts whether she travelled to you or you travelled to her. Stacey embraced positive energy to have a happy experience for enjoying her life and others. Stacey is survived by an older sister , Lisa ; two nieces, Aja and Maya; one nephew-in-law Edward Williams; grandneices , Ja Niyah and Ayaan and grandnephews , Jakai (and godson), Jassan, Jahan, and Jeremiah, and two "forever families " - the late Mr. Richard Byrd and Ms. Juanita Byrd and daughters, Sharon, Sandra, DeJay and Richee ; the late Ms. Carol Young and children Rabi and Alan, Jr. and a host of cousins, relatives and many friends whom are invited to her visitation on Friday, February12, 2021 from 10-11am at the Murphy Ruffenach Brian W Donnelly Funeral Home (2237-41 S. 3rd St. Phila., PA 19148.
