Patrick “Pat” West
Patrick West, lovingly known as “Pat” to his family and friends, peacefully passed away on September 22, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the people he loved.
Born on August 19, 1953, he was the son of the late Howard and Rose (nee Annacone) West and was a proud lifelong 2nd Streeter. Pat was a hardworking man with an incredible work ethic. For many years, he worked as a union truck driver before eventually working in maintenance for the Presbyterian Church. He took great pride in his work and was never late—even after a long night of rooting on his beloved Eagles.
Pat’s greatest love was his family. His first love was his wife of 48 years, Marge, and his second great love was his daughter, Megan. Pat was incredibly proud of Megan and supported her in everything she did. His devotion to her even led him to move to New Jersey so he could be closer to her and her family.
Pat lived his life with a tremendous sense of dedication to his family and community. He spent many wonderful summers at the shore with his campground friends—friends who over the years became more like family. He proudly looked after Burke Playground for many years and was a strong advocate for keeping it clean, safe, and welcoming to the neighborhood. His dedication was recognized when he received the Burke Playground Award.
Giving back was simply part of who Pat was. He volunteered alongside his daughter with the Mums and Mutts Foundation, helping dogs in need, a cause that was very close to his heart. Pat had an incredible love for animals and always had a soft spot for the four-legged members of his family.
And then there were the Mummers—a passion that was woven into Pat’s life and memories. His love for the Mummers always shined brightly. He proudly marched with Froggy Carr and, more recently, MGK and Cara Liom, where he had the great pleasure of marching alongside his beloved son-in-law, Jason. Pat was honored as a “Man of the Year” and even rolled up his sleeves to help with the demolition of the club’s house. The Mummers were more than an organization to Pat; they were another part of the family and community he loved so dearly.
Of course, no story about Pat would be complete without mentioning his Philadelphia Eagles. Pat was a true, lifelong Eagles fan and a season ticket holder since 1978. He owned the shirts, the gear, and everything Eagles green. He didn't just cheer for the Eagles—he bled green. Their victories felt like his own, and there was never any doubt where Pat’s loyalty stood. His passion for the Birds was contagious, and he loved sharing that enthusiasm with everyone around him.
But as much as Pat loved his family, his Eagles, the Mummers, animals, and his community, nothing compared to the joy he found in being a Popi. His grandchildren, Julianna and Laina, were the true highlights of his life. He treasured every moment with them and took enormous pride in watching them grow.
Pat will be remembered for his hilarious and unforgettable personality, his great smile, warm heart, loyalty, generosity, and reliability. He had a natural charisma that drew people to him. He appreciated a good cigar, a cold miller lite, loved to laugh, and was always willing to lend a hand. There was very little Pat couldn't fix. He was the ultimate handyman, and if something was broken, chances were Pat could figure out how to make it right.
Above all, Pat was a great man with a big heart. He was dependable, hardworking, fiercely loyal, deeply devoted to his family, and always willing to help others. He left his mark not only on the people closest to him, but on the neighborhood and communities he proudly served.
Pat will be sadly missed by the love of his life, Margaret “Margie” (nee Kircher) West; his loving daughter, Megan (Jason) McFarland and special bonus daughter Dawn (Michael) Rossano; his cherished grandchildren and pride and joy, Julianna and Laina Rossano; his beloved fur babies, Baby Girl, and his precious Dollie Girl, whom he is now happily reunited with; as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Howard West and Rose Turrieta.
Relatives, friends, Mummers, Wenches, Comics, and Association members are invited to gather on Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Murphy Ruffenach Brian W. Donnelly Funeral Home, 3rd & Wolf Streets. Religious Services will follow at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private.
In celebration of Pat’s life, the family kindly asks everyone to wear something Eagles green to his funeral—a fitting tribute to a man who truly bled green.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Street Tails animal rescue for Lexie’s Legacy, a foundation that was especially close to Pat’s heart, in honor of his dear grand-doggie Lexie.
Pat lived a life full of family, friendship, laughter, loyalty, community, Mummers, Eagles football, and unconditional love. He was one of a kind—and he will never be forgotten.
