Marguerite McKeown, lovingly known as “Marge” to her family and friends, peacefully passed away on September 29, 2026, at Nazareth Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 15, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Dolores (nee Zimontas) McKeown and was a lifelong resident of South Philadelphia. For many years, Marge worked as a talented seamstress.
Marge was a simple woman who found happiness in the people she loved and the little things that made life special. She enjoyed bowling in leagues at Oregon Lanes in South Philadelphia, often alongside her brothers and sister. She loved a good cup of coffee and was known for always having an open-door policy when it came to family and her children's friends. Her home was a place where everyone was welcome.
Marge was also known for her cooking and baking. Her family especially looked forward to her famous macaroni and potato salads and homemade pizzelles. Some of their fondest childhood memories were the spontaneous family trips to the drive-in, where they would squeeze as many people as possible into the car and make a night of it.
Marge's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother who created a home filled with love, good food, laughter, and wonderful memories. She cherished being a Mom Mom and took tremendous pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the beloved companion of the late Robert Dean and the loving mother of Thomas (Anna) McKeown, Michelle (late Bill) Dillon, and John (Tanya) McKeown.
She was the cherished Mom Mom of Thomas (Lexi) McKeown, Amanda (Eddy) Daly, Ryan Hickman, Christian McKeown, Michelle McKeown, Kiersten Hickman, and Sam Dillon, and the proud Great Mom Mom of Bella, Tommy Jr., Joey Dean, Genevieve, “TJ,” Vaeda, and Emerson.
Marge was the dear sister of Dolores Dougherty, Thomas McKeown, Eddie McKeown, and Donna Porter, and the late Joseph McKeown.
She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
Marge will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed a simple life surrounded by family. Her open door, warm heart, good cooking, and the memories she created with the people she loved will remain with her family forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday morning, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Murphy Ruffenach Brian W. Donnelly Funeral Home, 3rd & Wolf Streets.
