Marguerite Chiaro

–

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Marguerite Chiaro peacefully passed away on October 30, 2026, at Artis Memory Care Facility in Huntington Valley, Pennsylvania.

Born on January 11, 1958, in Union, New Jersey, she is the beloved daughter of Elsa (nee Shaeffer) and the late Joseph Ancmon. Marguerite spent her childhood in Union and, following her graduation. Marguerite continued her education and earned a Doctorate in medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Marguerite then answered the call to serve her country by enlisting in the United States Navy. During her military service, she served alongside the United States Marine Corps as a Corpsman, beginning a lifelong journey dedicated to caring for others.

Following her honorable military service she went on to practice medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a respected and compassionate physician. Later in her career, she found great fulfillment in helping train the next generation of physicians, emphasizing the importance of compassionate bedside manner and treating every patient with dignity and care.

Marguerite was a physician who truly cared about the people she served. Helping others was more than a profession to her—it was a reflection of who she was. Her compassion, intelligence, dedication, and selflessness earned her the respect and affection of her colleagues, patients, and students.

Outside of medicine, Marguerite was an accomplished pianist and violinist with a deep appreciation for classical music. She enjoyed both performing and listening to the great classical compositions. She also had a tremendous love for the theater and remained involved with the Play House and Players in Haddonfield until her illness prevented her from continuing.

Marguerite possessed a wonderful sense of adventure and loved to travel. She enjoyed discovering new places and experiences, hiking, relaxing on the beach, and sharing quiet dinners with her beloved husband, Joe. She also had a special love for animals and was always compassionate toward them.

Those who knew Marguerite will remember her for her strong work ethic, generous heart, charitable spirit, love of animals, and devotion to the people she loved. She lived a remarkable life of service—as a proud Navy veteran, respected physician, teacher, musician, wife, and member of her community.

She was the beloved wife of Joseph A. Chiaro, Jr.; cherished stepmother of Joseph (Victoria) Chiaro III; and proud grandmother of Fiona, Adrian, Milo, and Carmen. She was the loving sister of Lisa (Buddy) Wilson and dear aunt of Luke, Grace, and Leigh Anne. She will also be sadly missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, and many dear friends.

Marguerite leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service, compassion, music, adventure, and love. Her life was defined not only by what she accomplished, but by the lives she touched through her medical career, military service, charitable work, music, and genuine kindness toward others.

Funeral Services will be private.
