Josepha M. Cuomo-Evers Obituary (1953

Josepha Cuomo-Evers peacefully passed away on January 1, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love that defined her life. Born on August 7, 1953, to the late Felix and Anna (nee Blasio) Cuomo, Josepha was a lifelong resident of South Philadelphia and carried her deep Italian roots with pride.A graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School, Josepha went on to work for Bell Telephone as an operator for many years and was proud to be part of the original Bell Telephone Pioneer team. Her strong work ethic, dedication, and loyalty were hallmarks of everything she did.Above all else, Josepha will be remembered as a traditional, old-school Italian wife and mother who would do anything for her family. Tough yet tender, she led with love, generosity, and unwavering devotion. Her son and daughter-in-law were truly her world, and she gave endlessly of herself without ever expecting anything in return.A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, Josepha especially loved cheering on the Phillies. She proudly worked in concessions at both Veterans Stadium and Citizens Bank Park, combining her love of family, community, and hometown pride. She also enjoyed traveling around the world and was a proud member of the Sons of Italy Club at St. Paul's Church.Josepha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony "Tank" or Tony Evers. She was a loving mother to Peter (Lauren) Evers and devoted fur mom to Reagan. She was a grandmother figure to William (Kayla Carbonell) Bland. She is survived by her sister Olympia (late Dom) Avellino and was preceded in death by her siblings Annette Cuomo and Alfonso Cuomo. She will also be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.Relatives and friends are invited to gather Sunday evening from 5-7pm at the Murphy Ruffenach Brian W Donnelly Funeral Home, 3rd & Wolf Sts. Followed by her Funeral Services at 7pm. Burial is private. Josepha will be remembered as a strong, loving, old-world Italian mother whose heart, home, and table were always open. Her legacy of family, faith, and fierce love will live on in all who knew her.
