Eleanora Sue Carey Obituary (1938 - 2026)

Eleanor E. Carey, lovingly known as “El” to her family and friends, peacefully passed away on September 16, 2026, at the Silver Stream Facility. Born on June 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nora Welker and was a lifelong resident of South Philadelphia. El was a talented seamstress in her younger years and took pride in her ability to create and work with her hands. A quiet and gentle woman, El enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved playing bingo and cards, watching her favorite game shows, and was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing meals for those around her. She had a special love for animals and will be remembered for the kindness she showed toward them. El was the beloved mother of Ralph (Karen) Carey and devoted grandmother of Eric E. Carey. She was the dear sister of the late Regina (John) Campbell and the late John F. Welker. She will also be lovingly remembered by John and Andrew Campbell, who frequently visited and remained a special part of her life, as well as her extended Carey and Welker families. El was a quiet presence who found comfort in the familiar things she enjoyed and the people she loved. She will be remembered fondly and missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be private at this time.
