Elaine A. Barbuto, peacefully passed away on September 19, 2026, at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Washington Township, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 1, 1953, Elaine was the beloved daughter of the late Anthony C. and Rita (nee Paoletti) Gambale, Sr. She was a graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School, Class of 1971. Elaine spent many wonderful years working in the IT Department for Mellon Bank before retiring in 2017.
Elaine’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved deeply, gave freely, and never hesitated to put the needs of others before her own. She had a heart that seemed to have no limits, and her kindness and generosity touched countless lives. To know Elaine was to know someone who genuinely cared—not just in words, but through the countless thoughtful things she did for the people around her.
In 1970, Elaine met the love of her life and best friend, Sal, and the two were married in 1975. Together, they shared 51 beautiful years of marriage, creating a life filled with love, laughter, wonderful memories, lifelong friendships, and family traditions.
Elaine loved getting away to Sea Isle and spending time at the beach. She had a special fondness for lighthouses and mermaids, and she could always find happiness in the simple pleasures of life—a good cup of coffee, a wonderful dinner, something sweet, and simply being out and about. She enjoyed attending senior events, visiting the annual art show in Mantua, New Jersey, volunteering, and participating in community events. Wherever Elaine went, she brought warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in the people around her.
She never sought recognition for her generosity. Helping others was simply who Elaine was. Her selfless nature, compassionate heart, infectious spirit, and beautiful warm smile made everyone she encountered feel special. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her kindness was never measured, and her generosity was truly beyond measure.
Elaine will be remembered not only for the wonderful life she lived, but for the love she gave so freely to others. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, friendship, laughter, and countless acts of kindness that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is the beloved wife and best friend of Salvatore J. Barbuto III, with whom she recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. She is the loving sister of Anthony (Teresita) Gambale, Jr., and the dear aunt of Rodney (Ariana) Azagra. She was the special sister of Maria (Fred) Foster and the cherished godmother of Matthew Killian, Nicholas (Luisa) Foster, Anthony Irvin, and Grayson Irvin.
Elaine will also be deeply missed by her many cousins, dear friends, and all those fortunate enough to have shared a part of her life. The love she gave, the kindness she showed, and the beautiful memories she created will remain forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Friday morning, September 25, 2026 from 9:15-11am at the Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main St. Mantua, NJ 0805. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am and burial will follow in Wenonah Cemetery.
