Angelina J. Picano, affectionately known as “Angelina Ballerina,” passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2026.
Born on January 5, 2008 to Joy Picano, Angelina was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Richard “Rick” and Janice (née Grottini) Picano. A lifelong resident of South Philadelphia, she was a bright light in her neighborhood and brought joy to everyone who knew her.
A student at Furness High School, Angelina was preparing to enter her junior year and was excitedly looking forward to her Junior Prom. She lived life fearlessly and never met a microphone she didn’t love. Music was one of her greatest passions, and she especially enjoyed singing, playing the drums, and entertaining those around her with her vibrant personality.
Angelina loved watching cartoons, especially Bluey, and maintained a beautiful childlike spirit that endeared her to everyone she met. She was unique, caring, loving, and full of life. Her infectious smile, boundless energy, and kind heart will be remembered forever by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Angelina was the beloved daughter of Joy Picano and the cherished sister of Jayda Carroll and Calirose McCullough. She was the loving niece of Cherylann Lane and Jonathan (Michelle) Picano. She will be sadly missed by her great-uncle Steven (Geraldine) Grottini; her cousins Michael Thomas Lane, Joseph Michael Picano, Oliver Lane, Jonathan Picano Jr., Aiden Picano, Ethan Picano, GianLuca Grottini, Marco Grottini, Christine Gerace, and Salvatore Gerace; as well as her many special friends and extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Thursday morning, July 2, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Ruffenach Brian W. Donnelly Funeral Home, 3rd and Wolf Streets, Philadelphia. Religious services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
A crowdfunding campaign has been established to assist the family with final expenses. The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time.https://www.tmcfunding.com/funds/angelina-picano/16449/
