Michael "Ace" Moody Sr.

May 29, 1958 - March 13, 2021

Michael B. Moody, Sr. affectionately referred to as either “Rip, Ace or Moon Man” passed away peacefully on March 13, 2021. Born in Mechanicsburg, OH to the late James and Anne (nee: Kislan) Moody and was raised here in South Philadelphia. He owned and operated Mikes Roofing located in So. Philly. He had a heart of gold and will be remembered for always being there to help family, friends and was a mentor to all with an open-door policy. His favorite things were weight lifting, coaching for St. Gabriel’s football and St. Edmond’s basketball teams, had a love for music, playing the drums and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. Loving husband and best friend of 30 years to Lina Valtri. Beloved father of Michael (Calissa Santiago) Moody, Jr., Nicholas Moody, Michelle (Dominic Pietrzyk) Moody. Dearest Poppy of Michael III and Jilmarie Moody. Brother of Thomas (Maryanne) Crilley, and Patricia (Joseph) DeLong. He is also survived by his Godchildren; James Conti and Michael Winters, nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Sunday eve 7-9 PM at the Murphy Ruffenach, Brian W. Donnelly Funeral Home (3rd & Wolf Streets) and again Monday on morning from 9:30-10:50 AM in St. Gabriel Church (29th & Dickinson Streets). Funeral Mass to follow 11 AM. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
