Edward Matkowski

Edward A. Matkowski passed away peacefully October 14, 2025 at the age of 75. Born on October 14, 1950 in Philadelphia to the late Edward and Rita (nee Braciszewski) Matkowski, Edward was one of two children. He was a loving brother to Dorothea (Bob Brock) Hatt.

Edward attended St. Stanislaus grade school, La Salle high school and graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's in accounting. Edward later decided on a path of the book binding industry, sporting his incredible work ethic every day.

In 1974 he met his wife, Gerri (nee Barry) Matkowski. The two would expand their family having 3 loving children, Eric (Maria) Matkowski, Graig Matkowski, and Tara Matkowski.

Edward's giving, selfless, and compassionate nature is what made him such an amazing father. Those traits would then be carried right over from parenthood into being a Poppy. He adored his grandchildren- Riana, Prudence, Patience, Vivian, Iris, Petra, Pixie, Zina-and would do anything for them. His time and dedication spread beyond just his family. He volunteered as a coach for E.O.M's football team, guiding the kids on the team to being not only better athletes but better people all around. If he wasn't with his family or volunteering around the neighborhood, Edward could be found at the O'Malley Club on 3rd and Wolf Sts. He was well liked and enjoyed being with his friends. Relatives and friends are invited to an informal gathering Tuesday evening, October 21,2025 from 6-8 pm at the Murphy Ruffenach Brian W Donnelly Funeral Home, 3rd & Wolf Sts. Burial private.
